BCECP Listening Circle with Rebellious Root

“I'm glad I understand that while language is a gift, listening is a responsibility.” –Nikki Giovanni

Join us for a special listening circle as we kick off the new school year! This space will be an opportunity to reflect and dialogue with each other on the vision of our work and how we orient toward actualizing equity. The session will be led by facilitators from Rebellious Root Collective.

With roots in indigenous cultures around the world, listening circles provide people an opportunity to speak and listen to each other in an atmosphere of safety, decorum and equality. Listening circles emphasize storytelling for cultivating empathy. To help people gain a shared sense of understanding and emotional connection, these circles can be used in communities, workplaces, schools, organizations, neighborhoods, universities and families.

Rebellious Root is a New York City based, worker-owned cooperative dedicated to equity, social justice and collective liberation. As multi-racial feminist facilitators and creatives, we work towards justice and social change through trainings, curriculum design and intentional conversations. With an emphasis on action, our work is grounded in:1. Experiential learning, Eclectic truths, Emergent strategy and innovation, Empathy. We believe that each conversation is a seed - and that the seeds we plant today have the ability to cultivate new, just and rebellious futures.
